Hints for doing your submission to support the listing of Newcastle Ocean Baths Complex on the State Heritage Register

The Heritage Council of NSW is considering adding the Newcastle Ocean Baths complex, including the Canoe Pool, to the State Heritage Register because of its heritage importance.

If you haven't already, I encourage you to submit your support for the nomination. Submissions are open until 11:59 PM on 14 January 2025.You can submit online through the Heritage NSW "Have Your Say" page at this link  https://www.haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/newcastle-ocean-baths

The assessment of State significant heritage is based on the current state of the Baths and Canoe Pool and does not consider future City of Newcastle plans to redevelop the Baths building and change enclosures. Please make sure your submission is focused on the existing Baths rather than the Council's proposed redevelopment of the pavilions.

You can comment on whether the Baths are important and should be protected, does its significance extend beyond the local area or are there any gaps or inaccuracies in the information provided in this link https://apps.environment.nsw.gov.au/dpcheritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDetails.aspx?ID=5055258

Share what is important to you, such as open-air change rooms, meeting other people and friends, family gatherings, swimming clubs, taking grand kids to the canoe pool and simple foods from the original kiosk.

Please email info.newcastlebaths@gmail.com if you have any queries about submissions.
